Nyx was sitting in a willow tree watching the students travel across the grass beneath her, very unaware of her presence. She sighed and closed her eyes leaning against the tree's stronge trunk. Her mind drifted back to a long time ago when her life had changed dramatically... a time where her first love had changed her outlook on life.
[FLASHBACK]
Nyx had come out of a passageway through a dead willow tree and was walking through the forest just outside of Domino City. She was wearing her dark black and red cloak covering her plain black dress with her family crest on it. The crest was in a necklace pendant and featured a rose encompassed in a pair of bloody hands with the rose slowly pealing away at the edges. Her shoes were a pair of simple black flats. The sky had been clear upon her entrance into the mortal realm, but as soon as she had cleared the forest and entered the city, it was if a storm had shot out of nowhere.
The rain poured down hard over her hooded form as she slunk through the crowded streets. I need to fit in to this place... I need to avoid suspicion until I at least accomplish my mission... I need to find my other half...my mortal innocent half... and then kill her to ensure that I can never be pulled into the chaos of having my soul becoming more entwined with hers... where to begin...?
She noticed two people walking into this small shop that resembled what she had been familiar with as a specialty shack. She smirked and took a walk inside, soon discovering that this was a shop that sold the sexiest forms of outfits that mortals could afford. Nyx smirked wide remembering that mortal men would tell a woman anything she wanted to know when they had found her to be attractive enough. She walked around and found a bodes and mini skirt matching ensemble in the red and black colors with a pair of rose earrings and high black boots. Grabbing the clothes and walking into the changing room, she slipped them on and removed the tags. She tossed her old attire in the nearest trash can except her necklace with the family crest on it.
She walked out the store with her hood up once more, making sure to leave the body of the woman who tried to stop her in a dumpster outside the shop. Turning a corner, Nyx found herself beckoned into a small apartment by a smaller woman of about 20 years with equally long black hair and blue-sapphire eyes. She shrugged and followed the woman into her home finding a small fireplace lit and some comfy furniture sparsely decorating the plain apartment. The woman was wearing a black choker necklace with a red rose in the center to accent her plain white tee and jeans. Nyx looked at the necklace curiously as the smaller woman (about 5'4") introduced herself to the were-cat-vampiress visitor.
“Hello, my name is Aiko Masaki. You seem cold, would you like a cup of coffee and a blanket while you sit by my fire and get warm?" Nyx nodded and watched the young woman walk into her small kitchen. She took interest in Aiko like she hadn't done for any other beings she had come into contact with before. She felt that Aiko was someone she might want to hang around with for a while. Sitting on the couch by the fire, Nyx removed her cloak and hung it over the coat rack in the corner. Aiko returned smiling slightly while handing Nyx a cup of black coffee and sitting beside her.
"You really do not look like you're from here... have you traveled far, Miss...?"
"My name is Jezebel, Jezebel Nyx Pandora Dering. And yes, I have travelled far. If it would be convenient, I would like to request a room here at your small home to stay at for a while?" Aiko nodded and smiled. Nyx's red eyes met with Aiko's sapphire blue ones and a connection was formed. Aiko took off her choker and placed it around Nyx's neck securing it tightly. "There. With this choker, I am vowing that I shall be the best friend you ever had, Jezebel!"
Nyx looked down at the choker and smiled for the first time in her life. She looked at Aiko and took her family crest off and slipped it around Aiko's neck. "And I, the same vow to you, Aiko. I think this is the start of something very positive for you and I."
The two spent many months together having fun as Nyx was trying to figure out all of the mortal customs. One thing she had begun to figure out was the concept of a very powerful human emotion... The emotiong of love.
Aiko and Nyx had been taking a long walk back to Aiko's home in the middle of a clear night and they had stopped and sat on a bench in the park below the quarter moon. Nyx noticed Aiko leaning onto her shoulder and hugging her arm with a small smile on her face. Aiko looked up at Nyx as she had seen a question in her friend's eyes.
"Aiko, why is it I have never seen you with any guys in a romantic relationship in all my time here? It seems a bit odd to me."
“Well, Jezebel, I haven't found anyone else that I can connect with on a level like that... I found one person, but that person is so hard to get to show a decent amount of interest towards me in the same fashion... Jez, I'm a bisexual, and I just think I may have found someone I can truly love..."
Nyx smirked down at Aiko and bent in a bit letting out a soft growl to hide her interest in the situation."Well, now who might this person be, Aiko?"
Aiko looked into Nyx's red eyes and grabbed Nyx's hand gently with one of her own. She placed the other on Nyx's cheek and pushed her bangs back a bit. "Jez... the person who I have fallen in love with... it's you... and I would give anything to have you love me in return..."
Aiko leaned up slowly towards Nyx's lips and found Nyx already leaning in to kiss her. Their lips met and Aiko and Nyx wrapped their arms around each other. They finally had someone to call their lover and loving companion. That night, they spent the evening together by the fire and slept curled up on the couch. Nyx was reclining on the couch with Aiko sleeping peacefully with her head on her chest. Nyx smiled and pulled Aiko's hair back a bit to reveal the bite she had given her earlier under the moonlight. "Let this be the last night you sleep as the mortals do, my aibou, for tomorrow you shall be mine to enjoy..." She closed her eyes and meditated while waiting for the sun the rise and wake Aiko's sleeping form.
(Five and a Half Months Later)
"Come On Aiko! We've got them on the run!"
"I can't go any faster, Jez, I just can't-"
Nyx and Aiko had been running down the alleyways and terrorizing the men who had been hitting on them the previous evening. Nyx had transformed into her battle appearance with her were-cat ears, tail, and claws, but she still had her deep blood-red eyes and fangs of her vampire half. Aiko had her fangs and her eyes the same way as Nyx, but she was slower and seemed to be losing speed.
Aiko then collapsed onto the alley walkway after a loud boom was echoed in the city's blackness. Nyx didn't hear Aiko get up, so she ceased her chase and went back to help her girlfriend.
Nyx found her partner on the cement ground clutching her left breast and some black blood spilling out of her wound. Aiko was coughing up some blood and in so much pain. She looked up at Nyx and reached out her hand to her. Nyx quickly got down and scooped Aiko up in her arms and ran back to the house carrying her lover.
She laid Aiko on their bed and tried to get a better look at the wound dealt to Aiko. Nyx kissed Aiko's lips harshly and told her to be still as she got a look at the wound. She cut Aiko's shirt off with her pocket knife and saw the source of Aiko's pain. Someone had fired a few shots into her chest. There was a small stake through her heart along with a few silver bullets shot through her left lung. Nyx had never been vulnerable to those injuries, but here Aiko was dying a slow death.
"Hang in there, Aiko! You can beat this!" Nyx held Aiko in her arms as Aiko was slowly shutting her eyes.
"Jezebel... thank you for everything... but you and I both know I can't beat this one..."
"Don't say that!" Nyx was now having a slight stagger in her voice pitch and her body was quivering. "You... You're going to be fine!"
"Not this time... Jezebel... I love you with all that I am... you will always be the one my heart belongs to until I see you again..."
Nyx pulled her into a deep kiss as the last bit of life escaped Aiko's body leaving a limp and empty vessel in Nyx's shaking bloody arms. Nyx couldn't believe this was it for her Aiko. She hugged Aiko's body tight and tried everything she could think of to bring her lover back. Nyx then got depressed even further after all attempts failed.
She picked up a book in the library and found that because she was a mixed species, her venom was double as powerful, and would not create minions, but it would instead kill anyone in the time between 2 weeks and 6 months. Aiko had managed to hold on for 5 and a half months before the venom had won the battle... the silver only caused her death sooner. Nyx slammed the book and stormed out and set fire to the apartment with Aiko's ashes in an urn still inside. Soon after, she realized she was now more full of anger, hate, and rage than before. She then made it a habit of killing for no reason and drinking on a daily basis.

"Jezebel... where are you?" Aiko called from the base of the tree looking up amoung the branches for her favorite psycho. Nyx looked down smiling at Aiko's big blue eyes and waved. Oh it was such a long time ago... and yet it feels like yesterday... I'm just glad Charles Namiki gave me what I needed in order to bring Aiko back among the living. It may have cost me some time in the future if he ever changes his mind about this free gift, but it's worth it... She jumped down out of the tree and landed beside Aiko smirking.
"Miss me I take it... So what's up?"
"Nothing much, Jez... just wondering if you had plans for tonight... I was hoping to catch a show downtown and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me... like old times..."
Nyx smiled and nodded hugging Aiko softly, letting her eyes swell up in tears for a second, before getting a grip on herself. Having Aiko around was not something she would ever take for granted... and as far as se could see, Aiko Masaki was still interested in sticking around her too.
She tilted Aiko's chin up slightly and looked into the raven-haired one's sapphire eyes while her own blood-red eyes looked within them. "Sure, Aiko... I'll go with you. Let's just take a walk first around the campus to make sure Kai and Kasumi won't be bored with us gone." She looked into those innocent blue eyes and leaned down kissing Aiko's soft pink velvet lips. Feeling the other kiss her back and her hands now being held in Aiko's hands was just what she loved. As they broke kiss, Aiko shook her head o get rid of her blushing cheeks and Nyx flipped her long red hair over her shoulders. They then walked down the campus looking for Kasumi and Kai.
